LaVerne R. Brasher 1922 ~ 2011 LaVerne Richardson Brasher, age 88, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away May 1, 2011 at her home in West Valley City, Utah. She was born November 28, 1922 to Milo and Ida Smith Richardson. She married Burton Farnsworth Brasher on November 27, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from West High School, in Salt Lake City, from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing, and the University of Utah. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the LDS Hospital, the old Salt Lake General Hospital and Pioneer Valley Hospital (formerly Valley West Hospital). During WWII she served in the United States Army Nurse Corps as a Registered Nurse. It was while she was serving in Tokyo after WWII that she met her future husband. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served in the Relief Society, the Primary and the Young Women. With her husband, Burton, she served an LDS mission in Nigeria and a full-time mission on Salt Lake Temple Square. She was an artist. She was skilled working with porcelain. In recent years she crafted a nativity set for all of her family, nieces and nephews, and many other families. She skillfully crafted porcelain dolls for all of her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She is survived by her husband, Burton; 2 sons: Burton Kent (Jolene), San Antonio, TX; Craig (Susie), Cottonwood Heights; 3 daughters: Linda (Gregory) Cable, West Valley City; Karen, West Valley City; Ranae (Jerry) Monsen, South Jordan; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Ada Bradshaw and Norma Richardson; and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011, 12:00 noon at the Jordan North 2nd Ward, 4320 South Falcon Street (4170 West). Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
