Vearl was born June 7, 1916, in Taylorsville, Utah, to Daniel and Stella Barker, the ninth of thirteen children. As a young man a beautiful girl named Ruby, caught his eye and he learned to dance so he could spend more time with her. Vearl loved to sing and was a member of the Olympus Male Chorus and also sang in numerous quartets. He loved working on his little Ford tractor and could often be found plowing people's gardens, leveling yards and pushing snow in the winter. Vearl loved to travel and has traveled thousands of miles driving school buses of kids to concerts across the country. He loved getting behind the wheel of a vehicle and just going. He was known for his shiny red trucks and would spend hours waxing and polishing his cars, trucks, roto tiller and lawn mower. He loved his tools and had a place for everything and everything in it's place.
