Lee Dale Bailey, age 96, passed away September 24, 2019. He was born June 3, 1923 in Ephraim, Utah to William Lee Bailey and Mary Lucille Jewkes. He married his sweetheart, Sarah Colleen Coulson, December 5, 1942 in Ely, Nevada. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on September 10, 1943.
Lee Dale enjoyed all kinds of sports. He attended Snow College where he played basketball and was voted most valuable player.
He served in the Army, in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Lee Dale loved the Lord and showed that love in the way he treated others. Along with many other callings, he served faithfully as a Bishop and High Councilman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lee Dale loved the outdoors. He shared that love with his family, traveling, camping, and singing songs around the fire. He was a talented singer and was often caught singing to one or another of his grandchildren.
Survived by his sister Margene Giles; children Bonnie (Richard) Taylor, Nancy Reed, Robert (Alison) Bailey, Russell (Nancy) Bailey, Richard (Melanie) Bailey; 24 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife; sister Koleen; brothers, Frank, Reid and Que; son-in-law Sid; grandchildren Patti, Deborah and Samuel; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Dad was very patient and kind to all. He made it clear that his family is his greatest treasure. Everyone knew that they were his favorite, and they were. We love you dad and appreciate your example, which we will try to follow.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 30th, 12 noon at Oak Hill Ward, 895 West 4800 South. A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd. and Monday at the church from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
