In the passing of Leigh Lamont Johnson, we celebrate his life! Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather has moved on to his next great adventure!
Leigh was born January 16, 1927, to Herman Becker and Coral May Johnson in Logan, Utah.
He married his one and only true love, Lorraine Hadley Johnson, on December 24,1950. They later solemnized their marriage and made their promises eternal in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Leigh was an exceptional man and lovingly put his family before himself. With gratitude in their hearts, his 3 sons and 1 daughter, Wayne (deceased), Terry (Julie), Steven (Annette), and Kristy Fedrick (Ronald) are left with precious memories to hold onto until they meet again.
His amazing ability to be an exceptional grandfather to 15 lucky grandchildren was beyond words. He was the most tender great-grandfather to his 30 precious little ones.
Leigh was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. These included the Sunday School President, the Stake High Council, and a member of the Granger West Stake Presidency.
At the age of 17 he honorably served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and later volunteered to be a paratrooper in 11th Airborne for the Army where he served as a member of the Occupation Military in Japan.
His career after the military spanned several occupations including managing a restaurant/inn, hard rock mining in Montana, logging in Idaho, and many years as a professional long-haul truck driver.
Leigh was a master storyteller and was always quick to share the details about his exciting journeys! All who came to visit him were blessed as he shared the life lessons he learned. His memories brought him great joy as he shared them with outstanding accuracy!
His favorite place in the world was the family property in the mountains of Lava Hot Springs. It was there that he became one with the animals and where he was truly happy.
Those who knew Leigh felt his love of life, his love of God, and his love for this great country. He will be missed but we know we will see him again.
