Leilan Hill Pettit

January 12, 1940 — June 14, 2018

Cheers to Lee, the happiest of hostesses, the life of every party, and the center of her family's world. Her life reflected the strong resolve and culinary acumen of her British mother and the social ease and grace of her warm father. Leilan Hill was born a twin to Henry Alexander and Evelyn Craven Hill on January 12, 1940. She grew up in a lively Salt Lake neighborhood with friends who remained close for life. She graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. That is when she met the love of her life and fellow twin, Robert Lyle Pettit. They wed in 1963 and enjoyed 50 years of marvelous marriage. Bob's passing on November 19, 2013 was heartbreaking, but her English stiff-upper lip and selfless service to others lessened the loss. Lee loved to celebrate, whether it was a holiday, a birthday, a dinner, a tailgate with friends, a vacation, a completed New York Times crossword puzzle, or a performance or game of her children and grandchildren. She usually planned or hosted those celebrations and family and friends came running, knowing it would be enjoyable and delicious. Lee was at perfect ease whether she was chauffeuring the Australian Olympic Delegate, talking to her grandchildren, or meeting new people. She loved others and they could not resist her love or laugh. Her family was her joy. Every child knew love and every grandchild believed they were her favorite. This legacy of love and laughter lives on through her son, Robert C. (Chaunntel) Pettit; daughters, Stacey, (Mark) Peterson, Meredith (Derek) Sainsbury; grandchildren: Mitchell (Katelyn), McKay, Madeline, and Micah Pettit, Austin and Cole Peterson, Briant, Nathan and Joshua Sainsbury; brother Duane C. Hill, and twin sister Lana Walker. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Park 6th Ward, 5233 South 3200 West, where the viewing will be held prior to services from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens. Celebration of Life at the Little America Hotel at 4:00 p.m. The family asks that you spend time with your loved ones, take a long-awaited vacation, and make a toast to friendships, both lifelong and beyond. Lee will be there, loving and laughing. Place of Birth:Salt Lake City, UtahPlace of Death:Taylorsville, Utah
