Lela Ruth Hartley Markham passed away May 30, 2015 at her home in West Jordan, Utah. Lela was born July 21, 1928 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Joshua Franklin and Melissa (DeGraw) Hartley. Lela's family moved to Idaho when she was 2 years old. Growing up during the Great Depression, she learned to work hard., picking fruit to pay for her clothes. After high school in Emmett, Idaho she moved to Boise working as a bank teller, soon becoming assistant head bookkeeper. After moving to Ontario, Oregon, she met Keith G. Markham, and they married August 29, 1952 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They raised their seven children in Lancaster, California until retirement when they moved to New Plymouth, Idaho. Together they served in the LDS Texas Fort Worth Mission. Lela served faithfully in various church callings. She loved family, her pioneer heritage, traveling, reading and huckleberries. Lela is survived by her husband Keith; sister Joyce Pruitte; children, Diane (Greg) Humann, Marilyn, Nancy (Lynn) Sessions, Stephen (Allyson), Glen (Stephanie), Alan (Anna), and Carol (Todd) Anderson; 24 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 3, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 8825 South 3200 West.
