Leland J. Brown, age 90, passed away peacefully at home in Taylorsville, Utah under the loving watch of family members on May 13, 2014. He was born December 2, 1923 in Taylorsville to Cloyd and Gladys Jones Brown. He graduated from Granite High School and attended Utah State University and the University of Utah where he was on the baseball team. He served in the Navy during WWII. Married his childhood sweetheart, Lois Ruth Shields, June 22, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had nearly 66 wonderful years together. He worked as a plumber and with his brother-in-law owned and operated Brown-Tye Plumbing and Heating for many years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions in the ward and at the Jordan River Temple. He had many interests and talents including music and singing with the Olympus Male Chorus, raising and racing quarter horses, golf, tennis, fishing, fly-tying, boating, woodworking, jewelry making and square dancing. He and Lois loved their travels in their motor home. His family was always his first priority and greatest source of happiness. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clair Brown; sister, Belva Tye. He is survived by his wife, Lois; children: Rebecca (Delwyn) Roper, Debra, Randall (Hillary) and Kendall (Stacie); 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Mildred) Brown; sister-in-law, Ann Brown.
