LeRoy Dean Cooley, our loving, caring father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away March 27, 2018, after a brief illness, at the age of 89. LeRoy was born in Helper, Utah to Henry Lorenzo and Elva Laverne Mantle Cooley. He attended school in Helper and Price, graduating from the University of Utah. He married Shirley Faye Catlin in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six children. He later married Connie Renae Hepworth in the Jordan River Temple. He served with the US Army at the end of World War II. His career included working for Kennecott, Standard Oil, and Chevron, with assignments that took him to many foreign countries. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions, and particularly loved his home teaching assignments. He was a mild-mannered man, who loved to spend hours at the gym playing racquetball. His legacy will be his love of his family from oldest to youngest and his cheerful, even disposition. LeRoy is survived by his sister Leila Pappas; children Dean (Joyce), Pamela, Ann, Dave (Yvonne), and Linda. His joy were his many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Marvin; sister Della, Shirley; their infant son Dennis; and Connie. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, at the Taylorsville 30th Ward Chapel, 4950 S 1950 W, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Sunday evening, April 1, from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Road, and one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park. The family would like to convey special thanks to the caring staff on the 8th floor at IHC Hospital, and Legacy Village Rehabilitation, Taylorsville.
