Lillyan O. Loomis Little Polina Lillyan Oberto Loomis passed away peacefully, at age 92, surrounded by loving family, March 10, 2012. She was born June 27, 1919 in Helper, Utah, later moving to Salt Lake City for school and work which is where she met her future husband and stayed for the remainder of her life. Lillyan worked as a secretary until age 72 at the Utah State Water Rights Division where she had many friends and fond memories. She was known for her expert skills in cooking and gardening. The beauty of abundant roses surrounding her home was known and coveted by all. She was also known as a spitfire with a lively sense of humor and regularly kept family and friends in stitches. Mom had an enormous library of cookbooks, hand-written quotations and a passion for insult books. She loved to feed birds and most recently to collect rocks and leaves. She found them fascinating and could appreciate the incredible beauty in each one. She led a good life doing what she loved with the people she loved and had many friends. Although she will be greatly missed, our cherished memories of her will keep us smiling for an eternity. Some people make the world more special just by being in it. She was one of those. We love you, mom. Life ~ Count your garden by the flowers Never by the leaves that fall, Count your days by golden hours Don t remember clouds at all. Count your nights by stars, not shadows Count your life by smiles, not tears, And with joy on every birthday Count your age by friends, not years. Lillyan is survived by 3 children; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Hazen Care Center who provided her with the most loving care.
