Lois Grace Henderson Gerlach

December 12, 1926 — April 2, 2014

Born December 12, 1926, and raised in Rochester, New York, died of natural causes in Taylorsville, Utah on April 2, 2014. Lois married her high school sweetheart, Fred H Gerlach, after his return from WWII. She was raised in a good Baptist home, converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and later sealed to her husband and children in the Idaho Falls Temple. Lois made her homes in New York, Utah, Texas and California before moving to Taylorsville, Utah. She was a caring and devoted mother to her six children and Navajo foster daughter. She took great pride in her appearance and the cleanliness of her home. She loved animals and traveling, taking cruises and trips to Hawaii. She had a special love for the Polynesian and American Indian people. She served in many callings in her church and with her husband, shared an abiding fondness for missionaries and for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. At the time of her passing she had four grandchildren serving as full time missionaries. . She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred H Gerlach; and daughter, Cynthia Emily Graham. She is survived by brother, Lyeth Henderson; children: Frederick H Gerlach, Linda Rose Kelley, Kathy Sue Vincent, Karen Ann Gerlach, Carol Joi Gerlach and Kathy Ann Dickson; 31 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express appreciation to Louise Deschamp, Lois's kind and loving roommate, and the caring staff at Avalon West and Bristol Hospice. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7,2014, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
