Lolan Merlin Morrill

Lolan Merlin Morrill passed away peacefully at age 86 on December 5, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 1, 1936, in Torrey, Utah to Robert Merlin Morrill and Ellen Rymer. He grew up in Delta, Utah. Later moving to Salt Lake City, making his home in Granger (West Valley City) for the last 61 years.

He married Lois Mae Eldredge on September 22, 1961, in Salt Lake Temple. Together they had three children Michelle, Steven, and Scott. 

Lolan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in scouting and as a faithful home teacher for many years. He had a great love for the families he visited.

Lolan was a baker by trade working for Albertsons, Harmon’s, Peterson’s, Dunford Bakery, and Macey’s. He ran his own bakery for 7 years inside the Ream’s store in West Jordan. He was known worldwide for the cakes he decorated.

Lolan loved all things western TV shows, movies, knickknacks, clothes, and was a member of the Mustanger’s and Ute Ranger’s Horse-Riding Club performing in many parades and horse shows.

Lolan enjoyed camping and spending time at his family ranch near Torrey, Utah and was the president of the ranch for many years.

Lolan loved people and made friends everywhere he went. 

Family was important to him and was always there to support them.

Lolan is survived by his wife Lois of 61 years, daughter Michelle (Gene) Inglesby, sons Steven (Cheryl), Scott (Lynda), seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Utanah Mills, Nola McGuire, and brother Arlo Morrill.

Lolan’s life was a blessing to us. He will be sorely missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, 1:00 PM at the Jordan North 6^th Ward, 3836 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah and on Monday from 11:30 AM-12:45 PM at the church. Interment Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
