Lucille Fukawa 1924 ~ 2012 Taylorsville--Lucille Fukawa, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012, at home with her family. She was born October 11, 1924, in Kirksville, MO to Frank and Louise Rollins Caudron. Lucille served in the U.S. Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) and was recognized as the last surviving female Veteran of World War II in Salt Lake County. She was the alterations manager for the Fashion Place Weinstocks, now Macy s, for 10 years before retiring in 1989. She was actively involved at the Taylorsville Senior Center and served four years on the Board of Directors. In 2006, she received The President s Call to Service Award for volunteering over 4,000 hours of service to the community. Lucille loved the Red Hat Society. She was Queen of the Sew Precious of the Girlfriends Forever Chapter and was known and loved by Hatters all over the state. Survived by her husband Ken Fukawa; children Paul (Roxann) Shafto of Salt Lake City, Russel (Sheri) Shafto of Robertson, WY, Sandra Shafto (Jeff McClure) of Houston, TX, Debbie (Bob) Baty of Taylorsville, Russ Fukawa of Salt Lake City, and Kelle (Ron) Valentine of Ogden; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren with the seventeenth due in August. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Neal and Richard Caudron, sister-in-law Gloria Caudron and son Robert Miles Shafto. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, 2:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT.
