Lucille Payne Detmers Booth My God, My All Lucille left this world suddenly and gracefully on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Born April 8, 1918 in Clearfield, Utah to Joseph P. and Retta Sessions Payne, the second of three children. Lucille was a bashful child with early artistic ability which became apparent throughout her life. She attended art school in Portland followed by additional classes at Brigham Young University. Married Robert Frederick Detmers March 26, 1938; he preceded her in death. As a young wife she started her family during WWII instilling a strong work ethic, love of music, and creativity into each of her children. She designed and built family homes and businesses in Idaho and Utah and worked alongside husband, Robert in Electrical Contracting in Burley, Idaho and with CW Silver. Architecture was reflected in her travels and her paintings. As a lifelong artist, she professionally painted and taught with select art pieces published and juried. Married Jesse Lynn Booth September 4, 1981 and was welcomed into the Booth family with open arms; he preceded her in death. Member of the LDS Church, served as docent at the Museum of History and Art and was currently serving hostess mission at Joseph Smith Memorial Building which she knew and loved as the historic Hotel Utah. Her art influenced everything that she did. She was a patron of all the arts, attending the symphony, the theater and grandchildren s music recitals. Dignified, graceful, embraced all. Children: Roberta Lucille (Philip) Hallstrom, Daniel Carl (Sue) Detmers, Maryett (Jarold) Swafford; grandchildren: Daymon, Darryn, Junelle, Rhetta, Marcus, Matthew, Nikki, Mimi; stepchildren: Bette, Richard, Shirley and Russell. Preceded in death by her sister, Kathryn Edwards; and brother, J. Garth Payne. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 1, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Wilford Chapel, 3179 South Highland Drive, followed by interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery. Lucille requested no viewing be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springville Museum of Art. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
