Taylorsville, UT - Lyle Munro Gingell passed away peacefully February 20, 2019, surrounded by family.
Born March 11, 1928 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Joseph Earl and Eva Cope Gingell. Married Phyllis Geraldine (Gerrie) Green, May 19, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Lyle is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years; daughters Ann Olson, Lana Tucker and Kari (Todd) Garrett; sons Lyle Lynn (Regina) Gingell, Brent (Judy) Gingell, Tracy (Rebeca) Gingell; 33 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Russel; sisters Arba Uresk, JoAnn Keller, Margory Mieure Seybert and Joyce Hatch; grandson Jordan Olson; and son-in-law Alfred Tucker.
Lyle served LDS missions with his wife in Georgetown, Guyana and in Manila, Phillipines. He was an endless genealogist, doing his work until the last few weeks of his life. He and his wife served together for many years at the Jordan River Temple. He was a temple sealer and conducted the temple marriages for several of his grandchildren and ward members.
Lyle was an avid sports fan. He loved to watch Utah Jazz, BYU and U of U games. He was either a coach, referee or umpire for most of the boys living in Kearns during the late 1960s and 1970s. During one baseball season he managed a Kearns American League All-Star team that went to the Little League World Series in Southern California.
Lyle was an honorable, honest, hard-working man and always provided a great example for his children to follow. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 25th at 11:00 am, at the Bennion 5th Ward Chapel at 6100 S Kamas Drive, Taylorsville, UT. A viewing will be held Sunday, February 24th , between 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd in Taylorsville, UT. A family viewing will be held at 10:00 am at the chapel on Monday. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
