Lynne Obrycki

Our family mourns the loss of Lynne Denise Obrycki, 64, who passed away on June 24, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lynne was born on January 14, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ronald and Nora Johnson. She was the eldest of four sisters.

Growing up in St. Louis, she enjoyed friends, rescuing stray animals, and going to St. Louis Cardinal games. Lynne graduated from Southwest High School in 1978. She then began a career in cosmetology and later worked in the hospitality, banking, and mortgage loan industries.

Lynne met her life partner, Steve Kohl, in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1989. His career began in St. Louis in the Hotel Food and Banquet industry which took them to Indiana, Colorado, Washington, and finally Utah. They shared a love for animals, and adopted and cared for numerous pets throughout their relationship. Lynne is survived by their dogs Lucy and Gidget, and cat Shamus.

Lynne was known for her witty humor, beautiful smile, kindness and generosity, spirituality, and her compassionate heart. She enjoyed music, comedies, good food, traveling, appreciation of the outdoors, and service to others. Early on in their relationship she and Steve were also enthusiastic movie goers.

Lynne is survived by Steve Kohl - partner, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Janis (Ron) Bickers - sister, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jacqueline Johnson - sister, of Farmington, Missouri, Veronica (Marco) Johnson - sister, of Riverside, California, nephews Todd (Karina) Williams and Nate (Cassie) Johnson, and nieces MyLynn, Zerayah, Jaylynn, Dayzia, Everly, and Bellalisa Johnson.

Lynne was preceded in death by her father Ronald Johnson and her mother Nora Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at a future date to celebrate her life.

In memory of Lynne, contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Humane Society.
