Mae Caldwell Jones Davis 1928 ~ 2014 Mae Caldwell Jones Davis, 85, died January 9, 2014, in Salt Lake City. She was born in Banida, Idaho, on March 21, 1928, to Millie Allen Swann and George Caldwell. Mae and her parents moved to Salt Lake City at the beginning of World War II. She graduated from East High in 1946 and worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life. Mae married Rodney Chapman Jones on June 7, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children and were later divorced. When her children were all grown, Mae served an LDS mission in Little Rock, Arkansas. After her mission, she lived in Provo until some of her grandchildren lined her up with Frank LeRoy Davis. Mae and Frank announced their engagement at her 70th birthday party and were married on May 2, 1998. Later they were sealed in the Manti Temple. Together they built a home on Frank's Kanosh property and rode four-wheelers off into the hills with their dog Brownie riding shotgun. Mae's marriage to Frank brought her seven stepchildren and dozens of new grandchildren, which delighted her. Mae and babies had a mutual attraction; they loved her, and she thoroughly enjoyed every new addition to the family. She served diligently in many church callings, including eight years as Cub Scout Den Mother, a proof of her love for children if there ever was one. She was a woman of great compassion and cared for others all her life, including foster children and the elderly. She is survived by her brother Dean (Phyllis) Caldwell of Fresno, CA; her 11 children and stepchildren: Tamara Hinckley, Calvin Kent (Susan) Jones, Alda (Hoda Peterson) Jones, all of Salt Lake City, Denise (Dan) Hubbard of Kansas City, MO; Leonard (Glenna) Davis of Kanosh, Gerald (Charlotte) Davis of Santaquin, Vanett (Ken) Brown of West Jordan, SheriAnn (Dave) Runchel of Nampa, ID; Arlan (Letha) Davis of West Jordan, Michael (Jeanni) Davis of Port Orchard, WA; and Joenette Davis of Colorado Springs, CO; 46 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
