Margaret Hardy

January 21, 1923 — May 13, 2023

Our kind, loving, compassionate mother peacefully slipped through the veil to her heavenly home where she was reunited with her husband, her parents, her siblings, friends, and her two beloved grandsons.

Margaret LaVean Thomson Hardy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 21, 1923. She was the fifth child born to Matthew McBlain & Lola Thomson. She was a beautiful baby, young woman, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mother grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended West High School. After she graduated, she met & fell in love with our father, Leo Wendell Hardy, who was serving in the Army/Air Force where he was assigned to several locations which eventually led to serving in the South Pacific. They were married on February 28, 1942, and were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple on August 23, 1997.

They were able to spend 72 years together before dad passed away. They had two daughters, Margaret & Nancy, while he was away serving his country. After the war, mom and dad were able to settle into a family life together and eventually had three more children, Linda, Becky & Bill. During this time, they lived in California and several locations in Utah. They were blessed to spend their last 38 years in West Jordan, where they were loved, watched over, and cared for by wonderful neighbors.

Mother was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the opportunity to serve in various callings.

She loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with each one as the family circle grew. She is survived by five children, Margaret (Keith)Player, Nancy (Pete) Turpin, Linda (Dale) Hepworth, Rebecca (Frank) Wojtech and Leo (Bill) (Roberta) Hardy. She was blessed with 23 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, and 46 great-great-grandchildren.

Mother was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, Albert World, Lola Messerly, Virginia (Mick) Piepgrass, Helen Thomson, Robert Thomson, Matthrew Thomson, a nephew, Grant Messerly, & two grandsons, Rob & Jason Turpin.
