Margaret Ellen Hansen Lucas passed away peacefully on June 18, 2018 at the age of 96. Margaret was born December 19, 1921 in Mammoth, Utah to Albin and Lyda Ekker Hansen and raised in Heber City, Utah. She excelled in academics and music, graduating with honors from Wasatch High School in 1940. She served as the class Vice President, editor of the Wasona yearbook and participated in band. She started piano studies at an early age. Margaret met William Ernest Lucas in Eureka, Utah and they were married on February 14, 1942. They lived in Eureka and Mullen, Idaho before settling in Kearns in 1955. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, knitting, oil painting, traveling and attending Utah Symphony concerts. She worked at Hercules Incorporated in document control for over 27 years. Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Music was always a big part of her life and she held positions of both pianist and organist with her dear sister Doris as chorister. Margaret's organ talents were appreciated by other denominations when needed. In addition, she accompanied soloists and choirs. She and her dear friend played duets, and together, were in great demand performing at many senior citizen centers in the Salt Lake valley. Margaret is survived by her son, Phillip (Vonnay); daughter Paula; 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband William Lucas; infant daughters Carolyn and Madelyn Lucas; parents Albin and Lyda Hansen; brothers Gale Hansen and Leon Hansen; sister Doris Pritchett; and son-in-law Thomas Corwin. A graveside service for family and friends will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Heber City Cemetery. Services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
