Maria Godoy Fraga 1936 ~ 2012 Maria Angelica Godoy Fraga Lela , beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away last Thursday, December 27. Maria was born on April 14, 1936 in General Pico, La Pampa, Argentina to Pedro and Juana Godoy. In 1956, she married her best friend, Hugo Fraga, and together they raised four children. In 1962, Maria joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, being the first in her family to do so. As such, she is celebrated by her family as a forerunner of the faith. On April 14, 1971, she was sealed to her family in the Salt Lake Temple, and in 1977, she immigrated with them to Utah. Undoubtedly, Maria s greatest joys were God and family, and she devoted herself entirely to them. With faith like Ruth s, she happily served God and everyone around her. Indeed, her devotion towards God and family may be characterized in this verse: Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God (Ruth 1:16). Never withholding, she expressed her love through tender kisses and countless I love you s. Forever, her family and friends will remember her as a woman of immense bravery, faith, and charity. Maria is survived by her daughter Christina (Rudy) Franco; her three sons Marcelo (Ana Maria), Daniel (Lynie), and Roberto (Sueann) Fraga; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Luis Godoy. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Hugo on April 15, 2007.
