Marilyn Berg
November 16, 1950 - March 16, 2025
Marilyn Record Berg, 74, daughter of Odes and Afton Record, passed away on March 16, 2025, in West Jordan, UT due to complications from a fall - exactly 30 days after the passing of her beloved husband, Robert Berg.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Justin Berg [Selena], Jessica Neilson-Berg [Sally], Jeremy Berg [Jen], Andy Berg [Alianna]; her grandchildren: Spencer, Madeline Annie, Lily, Jack, Katie, Lyla, Leo, Eliza; and her siblings: Stephen [Linda], Diane [Terry], Janice [Dan], Keith [Chris] and Sharon [Andy].
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Berg, her parents and her brother.
Marilyn was a life-long faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She magnified her many callings and particularly loved serving in the primary and helping with the annual primary program. She felt a special kinship with those in her ward and loved them dearly.
She loved, honored and did much to emulate our Savior Jesus Christ. She took her discipleship seriously and was a profound example to those around her. You always felt better from any association you had with this amazing woman.
She attained a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah and worked for a number of years in different elementary schools - primarily teaching second and fourth grade. She was a natural born teacher who yearned for knowledge and received a special satisfaction in helping others learn. Her collection of school related items was vast and multi-faceted as she had many different interests. She was fascinated by everything from rocks to key historical moments to outer space. She loved her students and looked to build their character and strengthen their sense of self-worth.
She married the love of her life and eternal companion - Robert Berg on March 14, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they welcomed four children and later four daughters-in-law and nine grandchildren. Spending time in any capacity with family made her happiest - including Sunday family dinners, holidays, time at the Whitaker cabin and family talent shows. It was often during these times that we were able to partake of another of her great talents - eating her exceptional cookies, cakes and breads.
Even amidst her physical and mental declines her sweet personality shone through. She brought great happiness to her family during the dark time leading up to Robert's passing. The family is particularly grateful for the love and support she received from staff at Sunridge Assisted Living and Aspire Hospice.
Marilyn provided a rock solid foundation for her family and taught them correct principles. We love, honor and miss her. May God be with you till we meet again!
