Marjorie Louis Savington

February 19, 1921 — July 21, 2016

Our sweet Marjorie Savington passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday July 21, 2016. She was born on February 19, 1921 to Frank & Stella Leonard in Grand Junction, CO. She married Howard Savington on July 3, 1941 and began the life of a military family traveling and living in many states. They had two children, Jimmy & Rennetta, and made their permanent home in West Valley City, UT in 1963. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She loved to collect shoes, loved Elvis, loved collecting clowns and loved music. She was known for her class and style and always had her lipstick on, a matching outfit, matching shoes and her hair done. She had a special bond with each of her grandkids & great-grandkids finding a way to make each one feel special. She welcomed everyone with open arms, was kind, caring and genuine, and touched so many people's lives. A special thanks to; Donna & Starla for the unconditional love and friendship; the wonderful members of her church for all their love and support; to Judy for your friendship and willingness to always make sure her hair was done; to Vivian for coming from Colorado on many occasions to help out; and an extra special thanks to our mom for the attentive loving care and making it possible for our grandma to live close to family & friends and live comfortably in her own home. Christmas mornings won't be the samewe'll miss your chocolate cake, pumpkin pie & special cookies and most all we'll miss seeing your sweet smiling face as we open our presents. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Marjorie is survived by her beloved family: daughter Rennetta (Jeff) Benson; daughter-in-law Frances Savington; niece Vivian Nelson; 6 grandchildren; Nikki Moore(Scott Christiansen), Derek (Kayla) Benson, Ty (Heather) Benson, Brody (Heidi) Benson, Brandon (Tina) Savington and Kendra Savington; 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by: husband Howard Savington; son Jim Savington; her parents and siblings. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday July 27th at Noon at the McDougal Funeral Home (4330 S Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84123), a viewing will be held prior to the service from 11am - 11:45am.
