Mark Empey Fisher Poet Mark Empey Fisher slipped peacefully from the presence of his family and friends into the awaiting arms of his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Mark fought a courageous fight against Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis. Mark was born on October 11, 1949 in Billings, Montana to Calvin and Alice Fisher. Mark was an amazingly gifted musician and writer. Mark served a full-time mission in the California, Central Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Upon being diagnosed with MS, Mark returned to school to pursue a career as an educator. In 1985 he graduated Cum Laude from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He spent the majority of his career teaching English at West Jordan High School. Mark had a very endearing personality and sense of humor, enabling him to be an effective teacher and establish many lifelong friendships. On January 18, 1974 Mark married Shari Evans Crosby. Together Mark and Shari raised three children. Mark was a talented guitar player. He spent many nights sitting at the foot of his children s beds playing his guitar until they fell asleep. Mark was passionate about literature and it wasn t uncommon to find the grandchildren sitting on his lap, listening to him read a story. He is survived by his wife, Shari; children: Ryan (Jayne) Crosby, Amy (Chad) Anderson, Levi (Kristalee) Fisher; 5 grand-children; siblings: Linda Engar, Reid, Craig, and Cliff Fisher; in-laws Bernell and Maxine Evans. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Gaylen and Lynn Evans. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hazen Care Center for the excellent care they gave Mark during his last few months. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2011, 12:00 noon at the Taylorsville 38th Ward, 4310 South 3200 West. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
