Marleen Kay "Kay" Huntsman Wallis, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted disciple of Christ, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Her life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, service, and quiet strength.
Born on February 21, 1939, to Lester Volko Huntsman and Sara Manetta Fisher, Kay was the oldest of seven children. From an early age, she embraced her role as a steady and loving influence within her family - compassionate, dependable, and full of grace. These qualities defined her throughout her life.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kay served faithfully in many callings over the years. Her love for the gospel guided her life and was reflected in the way she uplifted and served those around her.
In addition to her cherished role as a mother and grandmother, Kay was deeply proud of her professional career. She served for many years as an Executive Assistant at the Utah State Hospital, where she was known for her professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for her colleagues and the work being done there. It was a role she valued greatly and spoke of often with pride.
Kay was married to Walter Thomas Wallis for 32 years. They later divorced. Kay was a proud mother of six children, Steve, Darinda, Jeff, Julie, Tim, and Chris. And her love extended to 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Her family was her heart, and her legacy will live on through the generations she helped raise and inspire.
Kay will be remembered for her gentle wisdom, quiet strength, kind spirit, and unwavering love.
Whether in her home, her church, or her workplace, she left an imprint of warmth, service, and grace.
Kay was preceded in death by her father Lester, mother Sara, ex-husband Tom, sister Barbara, brothers Darrell and Gary, granddaughter Rachael, and grandson Austin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 11 am at McDougal Funeral Home (4330 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville, Utah) with a viewing to be held that morning, from 10:00 - 10:45 am.
Though we will miss her dearly, we find peace in knowing Kay has returned to her heavenly home, reunited with loved ones, and has been embraced in eternal rest. Her light will continue to shine in all who were blessed to know her.
