Marlene Adams

Born May 30, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Andrew W. Swanson and Margaret Charlesworth Swanson. She lived part of her childhood in Ophir, Utah with her parents and her sister Eloise. Later they moved to Kanosh, Utah.

Marlene Graduated from Millard High School. She also graduated from Excelsior Beauty College.

Marlene and Ward were high school sweethearts and were married July 15, 1952, in the Manti Temple.

They settled in West Valley City in 1957, which was called Granger at that time.

They had 4 beautiful children -- Loren (Nola) Adams, Jay (Jeri) Adams, Rhea (Ray) Johnston, and Susan (Brian) Eccles.

They have many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sister (Eloise), son (Jay), and son-in-law (Ray).

She is survived by her husband.

Marlene was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different ward and stake callings.

She worked for Caring Corners where she was a cook for many years. She enjoyed her work and retired from there.

For the last two years she was cared for by a wonderful hospice team of nurses, CNAs, Chaplains, and social workers. She enjoyed seeing them all each week. We feel blessed and so thankful, as a family, for having all the services they provided her.

Marlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Everyone always felt her genuine love and compassion. She will be loved and missed by all.

Funeral services for Marlene Adams will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building, 2850 West 3835 South, West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church as well, from 10am-10:45am, followed by the funeral services at 11:00am.

Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
