Marlene Elaine Smith Mork was born to Byron and Herma Smith 2-7-1932, she was the 5th child & 2nd daughter.
She was preceded in death by her sister Bernice, brothers Glen, Calvin, Tom. Survived by sister Evelyn. She was preceded in death by daughters Christie (age 5, brain tumor), Carolyn (49) and David (51). Survived by daughter Rolene Shoop and son Dale Mork.
Married to Robert Mork for 25 years, later divorced. Married to Leroy Herron, later divorced. Marlene had 5 children, 13 grandchildren (Steve, Mike, Jeremy, Adam, Chris, Amanda, Devon, Damien, Krystal, Chloe, Marlene, Robert and Diana). She had 16 great grandchildren and 8 great, great, grandchildren.
For years she did the books for my dad's electrical business, A&B electric (Arden & Bob). She worked at Northwest Pipeline in accounting until retirement. She accepted Jesus as her Lord & Savior in 1980. She faithfully read her bible every morning and had an active prayer life. She attended several churches over the years; St. James Episcopal (1980-1990), Calvary Chapel and Life Church.
She traveled to Israel, Alaska, Mexico, and took two cruises. She loved quilting and made many beautiful quilts for family and charities. She taught Kristen, her great granddaughter, how to do machine quilting.
She was gluten intolerant for most of her life and created a Gluten-free Cookbook with her daughter Carolyn. She always had a vegetable Garden and loved flowers. Her yard was always beautiful. She had fruit trees and did lots of canning. Her computer skills were beyond her generation.
One of my good memories is how fearless she was, climbing onto her roof to fix her swamp cooler shortly before her stroke. In 6/2019 she had a stroke that killed the part of her brain that provided language skills. She could still understand what was said and could follow instructions, but she could not speak for over 4 years. Since September of 2019, she lived at Cedarwood assisted living in memory care. Her memory was fine, but she couldn't communicate her needs. Memory care was the best fit.
Celebration of life will be at St. James Episcopal Church, 7486 S. Union Park Avenue, Midvale Utah at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday July 22, 2023. Private interment at Elysian burial gardens at a later date.
