MarRae Payne Satterthwaite, 76, of Riverton, Utah was unexpectedly called home by our Heavenly Father on March 2, 2021.
MarRae was born May 4, 1944, in Logan, Utah to Raymond and Marjorie Payne and grew up in Logan, Idaho, and Salt Lake City. She graduated from Olympus High School and Utah State University with a degree in elementary education. She married LaVon W. Satterthwaite November 15, 1962 and was sealed in the Logan Temple; she had two daughters and five grandchildren.
MarRae had a special gift for teaching and was a master teacher in all areas of her life. She taught 1st Grade and Kindergarten for 30 years and left a lasting impression with hundreds of students, families, faculty, and staff. She was honored as teacher of the year for her excellence as an educator.
MarRae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an elect and strong woman of faith who loved to serve the Lord joyfully with all her heart. She was always ministering to neighbors and friends and helping those in need. She loved to study the scriptures, the words of the prophets, and had a strong unwavering testimony of the gospel and our Savior. MarRae shared this love and knowledge leading and teaching others in many church callings. She served many times in presidencies and as presidents in ward and Stake Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She loved teaching about the gospel, and many felt her testimony through her Relief Society and Gospel Doctrine lessons. Genealogy was a passion throughout her life, and she was able to accomplish much with many beautiful spiritual experiences. MarRae loved attending and performing temple work throughout her life. Her greatest joy these past years was working and serving in the Jordan River Temple and she loved every moment. She is now serving full time with Heavenly Father, which is bringing her eternal happiness.
Throughout her life, MarRae loved to craft and her home is filled with many of her treasures. She loved knitting, ceramics, making detailed handmade cards, tole painting, cross stitching, making ceramic dolls, beautiful quilts and many were the recipients of her talents. MarRae also loved to spend time in the outdoors fishing, planting flowers, traveling the world, attending the rodeo, taking cruises, dark chocolate, popcorn, Neil Diamond, root beer, her many pets throughout her life, listening to gospel music, and attending Marvel movies with her family.
She is survived by her husband LaVon; daughters Rekehl (Derek) Johnson and JoElle Satterthwaite; her grandchildren Tanner (Linzi) Johnson, Ryan (Alyssa) Johnson, Brinley (Hunter) Gibbons, Ethan Johnson, Jackson Satterthwaite; and her sister JoLynne (Gordon) Rich; and many nieces and nephews.
MarRae’s funeral service will be held Monday, March 8, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Copperview Stake Center, 12154 South 3600 West, Riverton. There will be a public gathering at 10:00 am before the service. Interment will be at Riverton Cemetary, 1500 West 13200 South.

I wish you could read all the beautiful online comments and tributes from the many lives you have impacted throughout your life. Your testimony spoke louder than your words and our lives have been richly blessed because of you. We are thankful for the knowledge we have of Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness and that we will be eternally reunited with you once again.
