Martin j Walk

Marty passed away, unexpectedly, in his home on September 23, 2020.  Marty was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend.

He was taken far too early from us and leaves behind his son, Isaac Walk; his mother, Ilene Jensen; his father, John Walk; his sister, Kristy Bailey; his two nephews, Parker and Spencer Bailey; aunts and uncles; cousins; and many friends.

Marty was born on September 17, 1970 in Santa Ana, California.  After graduating from high school in Upland, California, Marty proudly served our country as a Master-at-Arms Petty Officer Second Class in the Gulf War.  He loved this period in his life.  He enjoyed taking pictures while overseas and took great pride in his leadership role in keeping those in his care safe.

Upon returning from duty, Marty learned the trade of plumbing and worked in the water softening industry in Salt Lake the remainder of his life.  He had many deep friendships and respect in the industry. 

Marty was always authentic; what you saw was what you got.  He could be gruff and grumpy, and also hilarious.  He could be direct and serious, and also a huge practical joker.  His voice could be raised in anger, and also in the biggest, best laughter.  His tall physique could be intimidating, but in that body with hands that showed years of hard work, lied a sentimental, loving man with the heart of a poet.  Whether or not you knew he was a poet, if you knew Marty, you knew one thing for sure… he loved his son, Isaac more than anything in the world.   

Our hearts are broken and he will be dearly missed. 

We will honor Marty on Tuesday, September 29.  A viewing will be held at 11 am and a service from 12-1 at McDougal Funeral Home 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT 84123.
