Mary Alice Victoria "Vicki" Southam June 24, 1940 ~ October 31, 2014 Loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mom left this life at the tender age of 74 to return to the waiting arms of our heavenly father and the love of her life. She was born on June 24, 1940 in Missoula, MT. To Mary Duffin and Robert Eaton. Lester James later adopted her in 1948. She grew up on the family farm in Polson, MT and always wanted to return there someday. After high school she met and married Earl L. Jay and had three children. They moved to SLC in 1969, where mom worked at the Roadway Inn for eight years. She then worked at Little America and Judd's Lounge. Mom loved to cook; at Judd's Lounge she became famous for her corned beef and cabbage on St Patrick's Day. She also loved cooking home cooked meals for her family. She married DeVere Southam on February 24, 1986, and together they created many works of wood art, that many of us cherish today. This union added two daughters, Nadine and Valerie, to the family. She then worked and retired from Lynn Wilson Foods after 19 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Lester James, brother Darrell James, sister Leslie Dilly, husband DeVere Southam, granddaughter Heather Jay, and stepdaughter Valarie Waddle. She is survived by her son Troy (Debbie) Jay, daughter Sheri (Brent) Lake, son Craig (Nancy) Jay, brother Robert (Kaylene) James, stepdaughter Nadine (Ken) Pugh, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at McDougal Funeral Home at 4330 South Redwood Road, SLC on November 4, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At Mom's request her ashes will be taken home to Montana.
