Mary Isabella Withers Pedersen

June 8, 1929 — September 3, 2018

Mary Isabella Withers Pedersen, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great- grandmother, passed away peacefully Monday, September 3, 2018 in South Jordan, Utah. Born June 8, 1929 as the second of thirteen children to Leland Winter Withers and Violet May Hardcastle Withers in Riverton, Utah. She married Kristen Lawrence Pedersen, January 21, 1949, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lawrence preceded her in death on April 26, 2018. Mary was a devout member of the LDS church. She held a number of positions; her favorites were working with The Young Women's Organization, Girls Sports and Girls Camp. She also served four years as Relief Society President. Together, Lawrence & Mary served a Service Mission for the Kearns Utah Facility Management Group from 2004 to 2010. Their missionary work kept them young. Mary was a dedicated employee of the Granite School District. She worked at Oquirrh Hills Elementary school in Kearns from 1966 until she retired in 1989. Mary's hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, ceramics and camping. "Honey" as she was known, loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lawrence and Mary were blessed with four children, Karen (deceased), Maryann (deceased) (Greg Clark), Kristine (Robert Lemon) and Kelly Kris (Pamela Nowak) Pedersen. They have 8 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2018, 12:00 pm at the Kearns Utah Stake Building, 4260 West 5215 South, Kearns, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday, September 9 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Guests may also visit prior to the services on Monday between 11:00 and 11:45AM. Interment at Bluffdale City Cemetery, 14229 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah. The family wishes to thank the staff of Legacy House of South Jordan, Utah and Aspire Hospice for their love and kindness to Mom and Dad this past year.
