Mary Joyce Perschon Walkenhorst

Our dearest mother, Mary Joyce Walkenhorst, 86, returned home to her Heavenly Father and sweetheart of 66 years whom she missed so much, on Sunday, June 20, 2021. She was surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah – the daughter of Walter and Bertha Perschon.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being in her garden and working in the yard, as well as spending time with her family outdoors, camping, fishing and boating at Flaming Gorge. She is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved both the gospel and the Lord. She held many callings over the years but her favorite was teaching the Sunbeams in Primary which she did for several years. Many people benefited from her homemade jams and produce from her garden because of her giving spirit.

She leaves three daughters, Teri (Wayne) Hortin, Melinda (Paul) Buma, Leslie (David) Bagley; and one son Alan (Gena) Walkenhorst; as well as two brothers Albert and Richard Perschon.

Preceded in death by her sweetheart, Bill; her parents; her sister, Lois; and brother, David. 

Per mom’s request, there will not be a viewing. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the church on 1327 West 5550 South, Bennion, Utah. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates.
