Maxine Hunter Evans Miss Congeniality Maxine Hunter Evans was born September 13, 1928 in Fillmore, Utah to Morris and Zina Cummings Hunter. She passed away peacefully December 10, 2013. Maxine married Bernell Ward Evans September 1, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their early marriage in Parowan, Utah where their four children, Shari, Lynn, Gaylen and Jackie, were born. She finished her college education in Cedar City and Bernell taught school and helped with the family farm. They moved to Granger, Utah in 1957 and have resided there since. She was a beloved educator and taught fourth grade at Oquirrah Hills Elementary all of her career. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women, in 1970, for her dedicated work in teaching and work in the GEA and UEA. She served two years as State Classroom Teacher President and was known by teachers all over. Mostly she was known for her energy, warmth, friendliness and kindness. She worked tirelessly in hospitality functions, MIA, Sunday School and Relief Society. She helped with road shows and Young Men and Women's regional dancing conferences. Doing everything possible to provide a loving, helpful hand to her children and grandchildren. As an active member of the LDS Church, she was extremely proud of her pioneer heritage. Maxine is survived by her husband, Bernell; daughters: Shari and Jackie; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gail and Larry; sisters, Joan and Sherrill. Preceded in death by parents; sons, William Lynn and Gaylen Hunter; brother, Reid; sister, Gwen. A special thanks for the care she received at Hazen Care Center and the tender help of Hearts for Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013, 12;00 noon at the Taylorsville 4th Ward, 4310 South 3200 West. Viewings will be held Friday, December 13, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment will take place Monday, December 16, 2013, 12:00 noon at the Parowan Cemetery, Parowan, Utah.
