Merlyn J. Peterson 1941 ~ 2012 Merlyn John Peterson was born September 2, 1941 to Clarence John and Virginia Benson Peterson in Lehi, Utah. Shortly thereafter he moved with his parents to West Jordan where he lived for most of his life. He attended school in West Jordan and was grateful for good friends like Harold Dimond and Kenny Shulsen. Although compromised in this life, he is now free from all that held him back and is a glorious soul sharing a great reunion with his mother, father, grandparents and other family and friends. Merlyn s greatest accomplishments were the quality of friends he made. Anyone who took the time to talk to Merlyn became a good friend. He appreciated those who understood him. He loved to cheer for BYU both in person and via the TV. He delivered the Deseret News for 18 years and many customers stated they could set their clock by him. His memory for phone numbers and family s birthdays was uncanny. Merlyn was always cheerful and upbeat and lifted the hearts of those around him. Family occasions, reunions, weddings and funerals were never missed and family members, close and distant, were important to him. Now he has graduated to a new state of perfection and glory. We might not recognize him, but if we look carefully we will see the seeds of that greatness in the goodness and kindness he shared with us when he lived with us. We will miss you, Merlyn. Wait for us. Merlyn left this mortal life Thursday, August 23, 2012. He is survived by a younger brother, Mark, and his favorite sister-in-law, Randy; and sisters, Mary Lou and Renae. We want to thank Renae for her tending to him since our mother passed away in 2004, and to her husband, Pete for his tireless Assistance. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 3012, 12:00 noon at the River Oaks Stake Center, 8950 South 1300 West.
