Michael Jo Burt, 74 1942 ~ 2016 Michael Burt, 74 passed away quickly in his home in Herriman, Utah, October 27, 2016 under the loving care of his wife and family. Born in Logan, Utah on January 29, 1942 to John Edward and Ethel Elizabeth Burt, he was raised a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and maintained his strong testimony during his mortal life. Michael had an older brother Jack; they spent their childhood living in Centerville, Utah; Anchorage, Alaska; and Eugene, Oregon. In 1961 he served a full time mission in Central America, where he faithfully served and came to love the people. He met his eternal companion Sherry Ada Schurman at a Brigham Young University dance, and they later wed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 2, 1967 for time and all eternity. Michael graduated from Brigham Young University in 1970 with a master's degree in speech pathology and audiology. He spent 30+ years helping many people in the Salt Lake City School District, and his private practice with the mentally disabled. Michael loved his BYU Cougars, and was a football season ticket holder for many years. He also enjoyed reading, politics, and spending time with his family and his eternal sweetheart. After his retirement, he devoted his life to God's work, serving at the St. George and Oquirrh Mountain Temples and serving a mission with his wife as an Addiction Recovery Missionary. He is survived in life by his loving wife Sherry and his five living children, Joseph, John, Kara, Nick and Brandi; along with 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his two sons Christopher and Brandon Burt; his father John, mother Ethel, and brother Jack. Michael was and is the kind of person who looked at you as Christ would. A heart as big as any, he was well loved, and returned that love to all he met through his very last moments on this Earth. He labored relentlessly to provide for his family without complaint. He was a man that would do anything for those he without a hesitation. He dearly loved his eternal companion Sherry, and she him.
