The University of Utah Utes lost a devoted fan on Thursday, December 1, 2016 when Michael Thomas Moore passed away peacefully in his home. He was born June 15, 1952 to Keith L Moore and Joycelyn Tibbitts Moore in Oceanside, California. He married his sweetheart Jackie Noyes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 18, 1975. He graduated from Granger High School in 1970 and attended BYU-Hawaii where he learned Japanese before serving an LDS mission in Osaka, Japan. He brought home a love for Japanese food, often hand-rolling sushi and making "yucky soba" for his kids. Mike had a passion for music, chose the funniest birthday cards, and cultivated an abundance of, as he would say, "useless" knowledge that helped win many a trivia game. He had a great love for the church where he held many callings, Ward Missionary being one of his favorites. Spending the majority of his life in Utah, he quickly fell in love with any sport the Utes played. He regularly attended football games with his brother Scott and even followed them to the Las Vegas Bowl with his son Ryan. His passion for sports led him to coach his two youngest daughters Whitney and Holly in softball, and his sons Sean and Ryan in Junior Jazz. He enthusiastically exhibited his fandom at many of his grandchildren's sporting events, cheering on every homerun or yelling at an official for what he considered a bad call. Mike's love for sports was only matched by his love for his family. He and Jackie settled in West Valley, Utah where they raised 10 kids and delighted in 20 grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his father-in-law Wells Noyes; and his granddaughter Isabella Gracie Todd. He is survived by his parents; wife, Jackie; children Stephanie Todd (Patrick), Jamie Christensen (Jon), Melodie Newman (Kenny), Kellie Reay (David), Sean Moore (Gretchen), Carrie Carrell (Brian), Ryan Moore (Sam), Cammie Schmitt, Whitney Moore (Erick), Holly Moore; 19 grandchildren; and his siblings Carolyn Keele, Merrilee Melton (Steve), and Scott Moore (Rebecca). We would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals that worked with Mike and showed him friendship and love. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 8th, 11:00 a.m. at Copper Hills 5th Ward 4333 South 6400 West. Viewings will be held, Wednesday, December 7th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again prior to services Thurday at the church from 9:30-10:40 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
