Mont J Garrett Every life that touches ours for good, reflects thine own great mercy Lord Mont J Garrett s life was a perfect example of endurance and dedicated service. He will be remembered as a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Mont was loved by everyone who knew him for his genuine character and loving spirit. Mont was born Sept. 10, 1949 in Burley, Idaho, to Elgin Jay Garrett and Lorraine Hanks. He quickly learned the benefits of hard work and used this work ethic to produce miracles across the globe. He served as a loving bishop, stake president counselor and mission president in the Mexico City East Mission. He has literally brought thousands to know of the happiness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He also volunteered as a Chaplain for the Salt Lake County Sheriff s department and worked as a community builder. He was sealed for time and all eternity to Janet Holt on April 17, 1971 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was a loving father to his five children - Tracy Johnson (Calvin), Monica Hillier (Tom), Tawnya Derrick (Todd), Amber Steinfeldt (Matt) and Brandon Garrett (Brittany). He dearly loved and will miss his 16 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. He passed away on Aug. 29, 2012 from a long battle with cancer. Even with his pain, he was still serving neighbors and those in need. His example will continue to shine even after he s gone. He is preceded in death by his father, brother Michael and granddaughter Peyton. A viewing will take place Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home located at 4330 Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. with a viewing starting at 9 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 6250 S. 2200 W. Taylorsville, Utah.
