Myrle Rae Sorensen Smith
Myrle was born on June 16, 1932, at her family home in Spring City, Utah to David Leonard Sorensen and Geneva Benson Sorensen.
Myrle attended school in Spring City through Jr. High and then went to North Sanpete High School in Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from North Sanpete High in May of 1950. After graduation she worked for Carlisle Manufacturing Co. until she moved to Salt Lake City. She then went to work for Pyke's manufacturing. She later retired from National Semi-Conductors after 14 years to spend time with the love of her life.
She was working for Pyke's when she met the love of her life Ralph E. Smith. He was released from the Air Force on Sept. 13, 1955, and on the 14th, he gave her a ring. They were married in Spring City on November 26, 1955, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Feb. 23, 1972. They were the true example of love and loyalty.
Together they had six children four girls and two boys. Family was everything to her and she was a very proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to bake, and her children and grandchildren flooded her home every Saturday to share her tasty treats. Her donuts and cinnamon rolls were the absolute best. The highlight of her life was having her family visit. Their door was always open and there was always a hot meal on the table. She was also the first to volunteer to bake a wedding cake when she heard the news of an engagement. She lost her one and only love Ralph on July 25, 2013, at their home in Kearns. They enjoyed almost 58 years of marriage. She waited nine long years to join him and what a special moment that reunion must have been.
After Myrle had raised her children, she decided to attend college. She started taking classes at the Salt Lake Community College in 2009 and was very proud to be the oldest in the class. In 2012, she had to set that dream aside to care for the love of her life.
Myrle was very thankful for the continued care that her children provided for her that allowed her to remain in her home after Ralph's passing. She shared her gratitude daily and told anyone who would listen. Special thank you to her grandson David Gale for sharing her home with her and keeping her safe and her granddaughter Brittany Farrimond for the continued care you have provided her since Grandpa's passing.
She is survived by her six children: Christine (Bryan) Petersen, Cindy (Jim) Farrimond, Cathy (Kenyon) Blake, Carolyn (Ralph) Rosenhan, Leonard (Brenda) Smith and Willie (Nancy) Smith. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren
She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters. David Perry (Kim) Sorensen, Glenn Sorensen, Mary Wilkins, Lynda (Fred) Stone, and Wes (Jan)Sorensen. Sister-in-law's Francis Sorensen and Donna Sorensen.
