Born in Salt Lake County on March 4, 1932, and passed away in Sandy, Utah on January 24, 2022; she was 89 years of age.
Her mother was Mary Cravath Whitney and her father Vernal Gail Smith. She was the oldest of three children. The family lived in the Holiday area near Walker Lane. She attended and graduated from Granite High School. She married C. Jack Goddard which ended in divorce; they had four children with only Gail, the oldest, living. Nancy later married Ronald V. Belnap, after a passionate courtship. They celebrated their forty-seventh year of marriage on Memorial Day, 2021.
Nancy tells her story about becoming a teacher when she was six years old because of her teacher in the first grade. Simply a child, YES, but that teach made her know how important it is to be a teach. So, she wanted to be a teacher all her life (from the age of six); and she did just that. Nancy became a model for others herself. This was a commitment of love. She believed love to be the guiding force for everyone. For Nancy, Jesus taught us to be loving caring human beings. Yes. LOVING CARING HUMAN BEINGS!
How do I write of Nancy’s life? Memory stories she told me . . .
Like ice skating on a pond on Walker’s Lane made smooth by the good fellow for better skating, summers in the family cabin in Brighton before it was a ski haven, helping her parents at their print shop while her little brother Bob played on the floor. It’s like a gardener collecting flowers of memories.
Perhaps those who read this obituary provided by McDougal will give the space for other to add their memories.
