Nancy Evon (White) Fidler, 80, passed through the veil and returned to the loving arms of friends and family who preceded her in death on the morning of October 20, 2023.
Nancy's life centered around her greatest joy: her family. She believed her highest calling was that of Mother and Grandmother. She epitomized those titles with nobility and charity. A plaque on her wall said it well: "Some of My Greatest Blessings Call Me Grandma."
She was born in Florence, Oregon, the eldest daughter of Myrtle (Flamm) White and Paul Llewellyn White. Her parents taught her and her siblings to work hard-gardening, cooking, cleaning, digging, and building, sometimes just for the experience.
She graduated from high school in Bonners Ferry, Idaho in 1961 before going on to Brigham Young University. During her sophomore year, she met and married Darrel Bryce Fidler on June 1, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. She went on to have nine children, who she taught to work hard-gardening, cooking, cleaning, sewing, and other life skills.
Nancy went on later in life to complete her bachelor's degree and graduate from Brigham Young University in April 1987. As a Home Economics teacher at West Lake Junior High, she enjoyed teaching key life skills to youth in order to help them become good citizens and contributors to society-and some of her grandchildren have fond memories of coming to those classes for Nancy's students to practice on by giving the little ones baked goods and playing games with them.
Nancy is preceded in death by her brother Lewelyn, and her children, Mark and Rebecca. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: John, Henry, Florence Bradbury, Nephi, Alma Umber, and Virginia Pratt; her children: Lewelyn, David & Angel, Ruth & Samuel, Samuel & Barbara, Jonathan & Cherry, Mary Elizabeth, Steven & Kira; and an ever-growing legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at the Taylorsville 23rd Ward chapel at 4932 S. 3200 W. in Taylorsville, Utah, Thursday, October 26th, at 11:00 am. Those who wish to do so can come to her viewing at 9:30 am, at the same location. Her interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, Spanish Fork, Utah, following the funeral. Nancy's family welcomes any way you choose to honor her. Some suggestions include sending flowers to the McDougal funeral home at 4330 S. Redwood Rd in Taylorsville by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, taking baked goods to a neighbor, donating blood, writing a poem, reading a child a story, enjoying a thunderstorm, or donating to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
