Nathan Charles Hobbs, our beloved son, brother, stepson, grandson, cousin and nephew, finished his soul's journey here and headed toward home on May 24, 2015. He was 26 years old. Nate was born March 9, 1989 to Victoria Gladden-Dahlk and Jeffery Allen Hobbs. From the moment he entered the world he was the apple of his parent's eyes. The youngest of five children, each sibling relished their role in caring for the baby of the bunch; Jason as his mentor in all things Rock & Roll, Sunni as his maternally doting big sister, Jeffery as his best friend and basketball coach, and Taylor as his confidante and fierce protector. Nathan was a very talented artist and musician. He enjoyed writing his own songs to play on his cherished guitar. His portraits he created of friends and family members will be cherished always. He was quick to offer a kind word or a joke, and possessed an uncanny knack for comedic timing. Simply put, Nathan just made people feel good to be near him. It was sorely apparent in recent years that Nathan struggled, unimaginably so, due to severe mental illness. Despite the grim odds and many heartbreaking setbacks, we never abandoned that glimmer of hope that Nathan might one day find happiness and peace. We never gave up, because we never lost sight of the bright-eyed, witty, charming, and delightful young man we came to know. We know he was always still in there somewhere. We thank our close family and loved ones for their support throughout these struggles. He is survived by his father, Jeffery Allen Hobbs; mother and stepfather Victoria Gladden-Dahlk and Claude Dahlk; brothers and sister, Jason (Anjanette) King, Taylor Hobbs, Sunni Hobbs and Jeffery Hobbs; nieces and nephews Dominic, Kennedy, Victoria, Tayla and Brendan; 25 cousins; 15 aunts and uncles who all adored him. He is preceded in death by grandparents Boyd and Darlene Nielsen, grandfather George Hobbs; uncle Edward Pieper; stepfather, Scott Gladden with whom Nathan shared a very special bond and has a lot of catching up to do. It is beyond description the pain that we feel, as a part of each of us left with you. We stand united in support of you always. We love you unconditionally. We'll meet up with you again someday. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held one hour prior to services.
