Nelda Griggen passed away March 15, 2014, in Salt Lake City, of natural causes. Nelda was born in Fairview, Mont., on Sept. 18, 1937, to Henry and Frieda Beyl Dschaak. She was the fifth of 11 children born to that union. She met and married Roger Schofield in Billings, Mont., in 1955, after which they moved to Butte, Mont., where their three children were born and raised. They divorced in 1985. Nelda was remarried in 1990, to John Gribben in Boulder, Mont., but continued to make their home in Butte. After her children were grown, Nelda worked as a waitress at Raymonds, Holiday Inn, and the Bronx, all in Butte. For 11 years she was employed by Dr. Philip A. Blom at the Butte Chiropractic Clinic, beginning in 1985. In 1999, Nelda relocated to Salt Lake City, where she worked for a few years before retiring. The remainders of her days were spent in Utah, loving the warmer climate and environment. Nelda is survived by her sons, James Dean Schofield of Lakewood, Colo., and Bruce Alan Schofield of Melrose, Mont.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers; and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard and Norman; sisters, Frieda and Vera; daughter, Charlene Hill of Silver Star, Mont.; and four nephews.
