Netha Jane Smith Heath

January 8, 1938 — June 16, 2019

Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was reunited with her Heavenly Father on June 16, 2019. She was born January 8, 1938 in Fuquay Springs, North Carolina to Callis Daniel Smith and Mary Lee Lawrence, the second of ten children.

She married her eternal companion, Charles William Heath on August 8, 1958 in the Los Angeles Temple. Her loving husband always said he “married up,” and adored his wife dearly. She followed him adventurously to the Philippines, Maryland, Australia, Morocco, Key West, Florida, and Newfoundland, before retirement in West Jordan, Utah. She taught many children as the director of a pre-school at Camp Humphries, Korea.

Netha is best remembered for her can-do attitude, and loving nature. She took great satisfaction in being a visiting teacher, serving many women over the years. She was known for her cake decorating, quilting, fudge-making and flower arranging, all of which were self taught. She used her talents to bless the lives of others and will be dearly missed. In her later years, she was happiest when surrounded by loved ones at family dinners.

Left to remember her are her children Stephen (Peggy), Linda McIntire (Donald), Theresa Gibson (Kerry), Michael, Eric (Shayla), Jared (Lisa) and Benjamin (Jennifer.) She left 32 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren to honor her legacy of love and service. Her brothers and sisters James, Mary, Martha, Danny, and William will also miss her dearly. She is rejoicing in her reunion with her husband, Charles, and son Mark Allen, as well as her parents and sisters Betsy Irene, Frances, and Margaret and brother Douglas.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 8435 South 2700 West on Thursday, June 20th at 12:00 noon, where a viewing will preceed services from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment to follow at the Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations to Primary Children’s Medical Center would be gratefully appreciated.
