Norene Thompson Calvert

May 16, 1933 — June 5, 2016

Our sweet and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend, Norene Calvert, passed away at her home, June 5, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by her family. She was born in Logan, Utah on May 16, 1933 to David Joseph Thompson and Violet Jesse Johnson. Graduate of Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, as a registered nurse and worked until she was married. She married Douglas Ray Calvert in the Logan Temple on April 9, 1962. She lost her father at a very young age and being the oldest of four, learned the great responsibility of caring for her family and others. She loved and served everyone unconditionally. She loved her family; they were the light of her life. She was a woman of great faith who quietly and simply served all she came in contact with. She loved to read and study the scriptures. She lived her life according to those words she read and the example of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Everyone (not just her family) will miss her cooking. She is survived by her husband; her 5 children, Camille, Craig (JoLyn), Lindsay (Shanna), Rachel and Challene (Jorge); her 9 beautiful grandchildren; 4 sweet great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother. The family would like to thank the members of The Valley Park 6th Ward and the staff from Inspiration Hospice for their kind and loving support, care and service of our mom. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Valley Park 6th Ward, 5233 South 3200 West.
