Ola DeVon Maxfield Bird

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father February 11, 2017. Born July 23, 1936, in Altonah, Utah, to Linford and Mable Powell Maxfield. Married her sweetheart, Melvin C. Bird, June 19, 1954, in Altonah, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1978. She loved camping, family reunions, crafts, making butterflies out of two-liter bottles, her and dad's trips to Arizona, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. From 1967 to 1977, she cared for and was a foster parent for 30 babies waiting to be adopted through Catholic Charities. She was a kind and loving person and will be missed by all. Survived by children, Lonnie and Nancy, Rick and Cynthia, Wanda and Stephen, and Teresa and Mike; grandchildren, Rolaine, Josh, Jeremy, Ashley (Cortney), and Jordan (Lili); great-grandchildren, Hallie DeVon, Zoe Anne, and Conner James; two brothers; and one sister and their spouses. Preceded in death by her loving husband; granddaughter, Leslie; two sisters; and one sister-in-law. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Marks Hospital and The Legacy Village Care Center for all their kindness and care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15th, 11:00 a.m., at Western Hills LDS 2nd Ward, 5380 W. 5400 S., where a viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
