Orval T. Abbott passed away on May 19, 2019 with his family by his side.
He was born July 27, 1927 in Salt Lake City to Albert Lynn Abbott and Theresa Carn Abbott, the third of seven children. He is survived by 1 brother, Art Abbott of California.
Orval married Marlene Wegner on April 13, 1955 until her death in 2007. They were parents to 6 children: Larry (Cindy), Ben (Marsha) David, Karen (Nat), Dale and Rebecca. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Jesse, Sara, Amy, Ian and Katie, along with 9 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union 184 for 66 years. Orval served in the merchant marines and was later drafted into the U.S. Army Engineers division serving in the Korean occupation building roads and airports.
Orval was a member of the Sugarhouse congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he enjoyed the loving association of the brothers and sisters there.
Per dad’s wishes a short graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd at 3:00 pm at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bull and the Veterans Health System for giving us another 10 years with him. We would also like to recognize the staff at Mt. Olympus Care Center and Encompass Hospice for their care of dad in his last days.
