On March 31, 2020, Patricia “Pat” Ottley Johnston passed away peacefully in her childhood home at the age of 68.
Our loving mom, grandma, aunt, cousin, sister and friend was born on July 14, 1951 to Milan and Arva (Strong) Ottley residing in Midvale, Utah. She was born in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the youngest of three children.
She married William Henry “John” Johnston in 1969 and had 4 children before later divorcing. She worked for 25 years as a dedicated employee at Harmons in Taylorville, where her coworkers became her second family.
She is welcomed into heaven by her parents; brother David Ottley; and many others.
She is survived by her sister Mylene; and sister-in-law Jean (David); 3 daughters, Patricia Mae Smith (Johnston), Tracie Mylene Johnston, Barbara Kim Reeves (Johnston); 1 son Gaylord “Guy” Edward Johnston and his wife Toni; 12 grandkids and their spouses; 6 great-grandkids; multiple nieces; nephews; and cousins.
She passed her love of horror movies, Scooby Doo, and George Strait onto her kids and grandkids. She always had a Diet Coke in her hand and her next sarcastic comeback in her mind. Her grandkids describe her as a ray of sunshine, and everyone knows she was kind to all she came in contact with.
We will never forget her laugh, her smile, her jokes, or her caring spirit; especially as we see her similarities in all of us. It really is a “Love Without End, Amen.”
Due to current regulations there will be a small private and restricted burial on April 6, 2020. The family will hold a memorial at a later date when regulations are lifted, and it is allowed.
