Patricia Linda Horrocks, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 80 on February 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on April 30, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alvin and Frances Purdie. She grew up in Vernal, Utah where she spent her early years.
Patricia was the oldest of 5 siblings,Catherine, Bryan, Arnell, and Dwight, (deceased).
Patricia's life was defined by her deep love for her family and her faith.
Patricia was the proud mother of four children, Mathew (Julie), Blake (Marsan), Heather and Tiffani (Landon), and raised her grandson David after his mother, Heather had passed away.
Her legacy lives on in her 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep love for temple work, where she marveled at the intricate art and beautiful chandeliers that adorned each sacred space. Her favorite calling in the church was serving as a librarian, where she enjoyed chatting with everyone who visited and delighted in bringing candy to the Primary children each week, brightening their lives with her sweet spirit.
Patricia worked as a dispatcher for the Salt Lake City Police Department for 30 years, a role that showcased her dedication, calm under pressure, and commitment to service. Beyond her professional career, she was known for her love of quilting and flowers, particularly the flower wall in Vernal, as well as her unwavering devotion to Pepsi, all of which brought her great joy.
Patricia's warmth, kindness, and sense of humor touched everyone she met. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her commitment to family, her unwavering faith, as well as her famous bread, scones, and potato salad. Her memory will live on in the many lives she influenced and the love she gave so freely.
Patricia is survived by 3 of her children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 3 siblings, and a host of friends who loved her dearly, and was preceded in death by her parents, younger brother, and her daughter Heather.
Funeral services will be held in her honor at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville,UT., Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Viewings will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 6-8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 11-11:45 prior to the funeral service.
Cremation to follow the funeral services.
