Patricia Nelson

Patricia "Pat" Lee Nelson (Bohleen) was born on May 27, 1934, and passed away peacefully, at home and surrounded by her family September 28, 2023.

In her early years, she lived in Ferron, Utah, on a cattle ranch with her father and three sisters. She tragically lost her mother when she was thirteen years old. She married her high school sweetheart, Thad, on June 15, 1951, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple May 19, 1965.

Mother loved small children dearly and they loved her back. She taught preschool for eighteen years and is lovingly known by many people as "Miss Pat." But no one loved her more than her three sons, Kenneth (Janice), Byron (Paulette), and Jonathan (Celeste) whom she dearly cared for and doted on.

Mother loved the outdoors, particularly Yellowstone National Park, where she and dad worked as "geyser gazers" and volunteers for the park geologists, every summer for twenty years. She loved her community and was instrumental in getting the city to build the neighborhood Scottsdale Park. She and dad worked together to keep the park a haven for children. In her younger years, she was quite lively. She was highly engaged in her ward, loved going for walks, meeting for lunch with friends and treasure hunting at NPS for decorations. She kept a lovely home, where she loved to watch the Utah Jazz in her special chair, alongside her Caffeine-free Diet Coke. She was brave. She survived devastating colorectal cancer.

She is survived by her loving husband of seventy two years, our beloved dad and grandfather, who dearly cared for her, their sixteen grandchildren, and their twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her two sisters (Helen and Dorris) and her mother (Annie) and father (Leland).

Despite the many years we were able to be with her, it was not enough. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

There will be a viewing at the Granger West 4th Ward Building at 3305 South Scottsdale Drive, West Valley City, Utah on Friday, October 6th from 10:00 AM - 10:45. The funeral will follow at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park on the same day at about 12:30 PM.  Valley View is located at 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
