Paul Rush Loertscher, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and the patriarch of our family, returned home to our Heavenly Father on March 10, 2016. Paul was the first of 12 children and was born June 3, 1935 in Park City, Utah, to Roy Loertscher and Dorothy May Rush. Paul grew up moving to various places until his family settled in Midway, Utah, and graduated from Wasatch High School. He married his sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Violet Olpin, on March 11, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. Theirs is an eternal bond of love and friendship. Paul enlisted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Anchorage, Alaska. It was during his service in the Army that Paul became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon completing his military service, Paul served as a full-time missionary in the Northern California Mission. Immediately following their wedding, Paul and Violet moved to Utica, New York, where he learned to repair computers. After teaching himself computer programming, he went on to enjoy a 50-year career in computers. Paul was a humble and true disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ, and his love and testimony of the Savior was an example to his family and all he knew. In addition to his full-time mission in Northern California, Paul served in four bishoprics and on two high councils. After retirement, Paul and Violet served two missions together: the first in the Salt Lake City Cambodian Branch, and the second in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission serving as record preservation missionaries in Chattanooga. Paul also served 11 years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Paul was also an active Scouter earned his Wood Badge beads. Paul loved his family and we all knew it. He always emphasized the importance of the family and was quick to note that families are eternal and that families are really all that matter in this life. Just two days before he passed from this life, Paul called his family together and we all sang the sacred hymn, Love at Home. There truly was ". . . beauty all around, when there's love (in the Loertscher) home." Paul is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cynthia, granddaughter RuthE and son-in-law *Robert Marsh.
