PHILIP CIRIACO SEVILLA 1920 ~ 2013 Lt. Col. Philip Ciriaco Sevilla, born January 5, 1920 in San Francisco, Calif. passed away Wednesday July 17, 2013 in W. Jordan,Ut. He was able to embrace the arms of his loving eternal companion Grace Odell Sevilla who had passed in 1975. He was born to Louvera A. Beckman, and Ciriaco Sevilla now deceased. He is survived by daughters Patricia L Nilssen, Karen Swygard, and Beverly Bertino, his son Robert Minton is also deceased. He is survived by brothers Maynard Sevilla, and Steve Sevilla, his younger brother Merle Sevilla deceased. Philip had 9 grandchildren from Patricia; Stanley, Amber, Heather, Emily, Jonathan, Patrick, Adam, Tristen, and Ashton. He had 2 grandchildren from Beverly; David and Tracy. He had three from Karen; Tammy, Katie, and James Jr. He had one granddaughter from Robert; Teresa. He was survived by 14 great grandchildren. In his youth he was pinned by Lord Robert Baden Powell as an Eagle Scout. As a Lt. Cornell in the Air Force before and during WWII he flew 80 missions as a navigator in the Aleutian Islands. He was decorated with many medals including many silver and gold stars and one for bravery and the Purple Heart. Philip was a dedicated Latter Day Saint and served in several executive positions in the church. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved life to the fullest and always looked to the positive side of life. He loved to write and wrote 4 books. His favorite pass times were playing golf where he made 2 hole in ones and traveling the world and writing. Fathers favorite saying was look always to the good in life and make your presence known. He loved to laugh at his own jokes which made us laugh too. He was a tremendous story teller and avid genealogist. Though he passed in Utah he spent over 20 years of his life in Hawaii with his family where some still reside. Funeral services will be held Monday July 22, 2013,9:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment: Utan Veterans Memorial Park.
