Phyllis Tolman Ashe 1926 ~ 2014 Phyllis Chadwick Tolman Ashe passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Murray, Utah, surrounded by a few family members. Born December 29, 1926 in Fairview, Wyoming, Phyllis was the first child of Delbert A. and LaRee Child Chadwick. She married Alvin Charles Tolman in the Logan LDS Temple on October 6, 1943. They moved to Taylorsville, Utah in December 1948 and settled and eventually built their home. This is where they raised and nurtured their five children. After Alvin's death in 1985, Phyllis married Palmer Ashe on June 20, 1987. Upon their return from a mission to the West Indies, they enjoyed serving for several years in the Jordan River Temple. Phyllis instilled in her children a love for the Savior and His gospel. She serviced faithfully in her callings in the Relief Society as President, and the Primary and Sunday School organizations. Her favorite calling was that of a Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She demonstrated her love by sharing produce from her garden and cookies from her kitchen. Mom's hands were never idle. She crocheted and donated thousands of items for humanitarian purposes for distribution both locally and throughout the world. Prior to her death she crocheted over 100 newborn infant caps for Primary Children's Medical Center and the Intermountain Medical Center. She was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin and Palmer and her son, Lowell. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Anna LaRee (Ray Olson); daughter-in-law Irene (Lowell) Tolman; sons Wendell (Deanna), Clair (Christine) and Ryan (Penny) Tolman; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The family expresses gratitude to Solstice Hospice, Jolene, Lisa and Katie for their loving and spiritual professional care. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug 4, 2014, 12 noon at the Bernina Ward, 3045 W Bernina Dr (5280 S.). Viewings will be held Sunday, August 3, 2014, 6- 8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd. and Monday at the church, 11-11:45 am. Interment will follow at the Taylorsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis requested contributions be made to Primary Children's Medical Center or Huntsman Cancer Institute for families or individuals in need.
